Thumb Oak
“Thumb Oak” is a collection of Negros Oriental based young musicians who love to compose and arrange music. The band first started out as a Reggae-Rock band but has since started to explore different genres like RnB, Pop, and others. The name Thumb Oak was given by Risman of Willfreedo to the lead vocalist and songwriter, Lil Bokky, and accepted it since he like it that way and he couldn’t come up yet with the name of the band he like.
Lil Bokky, founder of Thumb Oak, was first inspired to start the band during Belltower’s Tune Workshop 2023. This is where he saw the joys of a bands collaboration and decided that he wanted to be part of one. This is also where he met some of his future bandmates, namely: JF Moraga, the Funk and Jazz loving drummer of Thumb Oak, June Louise Badon, Thumb Oak’s J-rock enthusiast and lead guitarist; Karoleene Quijano, the groovy rhythm guitarist of Thumb Oak, and Jesson Belen, Thumb Oak’s keyboardist with a rich background in Contemporary Christian Music. Lil Bokky and John Paul Obidos, Thumb Oak’s all-rounder bassist, have been long time neighbors and was picked to be the band’s bassist through the suggestion of Lil Bokky’s older brother.
Thumb Oak’s first public appearance was during RAYA 10’s qualification round which unfortunately, was also the end of their RAYA 10 journey. but after this, Thumb Oak started to perform their original songs for different crowds and worthy causes. Some of Thumb Oak’s more notable performances were at Foundation University’s LUTAS Film Festival and Daddy Don’s for the Save Tinago Organization.
Thumb Oak’s voyage is a tale of discovery, perseverance, and never-ending growth. With each new chapter, they push the boundaries of their craft, captivating listeners and creating a distinct professional path in the music industry.
