Risman of Willfreedo

Hailing from the vibrant landscapes of Bohol Island, Risman has carved a niche for himself in the heart of Dumaguete as a distinguished artist in the reggae genre. As the charismatic vocalist of Willfreedo, he brings a unique blend of soulful melodies and rhythmic reggae beats that captivate listeners from all walks of life. Not just a performer, Risman is a gifted singer-songwriter whose storytelling prowess and lyrical depth breathe life into every song he touches.

Risman‘s musical journey took root in 2012 at Silliman University, where the fusion of academic enrichment and cultural diversity fueled his artistic passion. It was here that he began to mold his identity as an artist, blending the influences of his Bohol heritage with the vibrant musical scene of Dumaguete.

In 2017, Risman, with Willfreedo, released an independent album titled “Something Khaki,” a collection that showcased their versatility and depth as musicians. This album was a vibrant tapestry of sounds and stories, marking a significant milestone in their journey. Following this, Risman touched hearts with the release of “I Will Make You Katawa” in 2019, a track that highlighted his ability to intertwine humor and melody in a way that resonated deeply with his audience.

2023 saw the release of Willfreedo’s EP “Dalan,” a project that encapsulated their evolution as artists and their continuous exploration of the reggae genre. “Dalan,” meaning ‘path’ or ‘road’ in Cebuano, symbolizes the journey that Risman and his band have embarked on—a journey of musical exploration, personal growth, and connecting with audiences on a profound level.

Risman’s music is more than just a form of entertainment; it’s a vehicle for storytelling, a celebration of culture, and a bridge that connects the hearts of people. With each performance, each song, Risman invites his listeners to join him on a journey of discovery, unity, and musical bliss.
