Hopia
Hope “Hopia” Tinambacan is not just a familiar face in the digital realm as a social media content creator but a dynamic force in Dumaguete’s music scene, embodying the essence of a versatile artist. His foray into songwriting was propelled to new heights when he was selected to participate in the esteemed Elements Singing-Songwriting Camp’s third batch, an experience enriched by the mentorship of the iconic Ryan Cayabyab and interaction with other illustrious Filipino musicians.
Leading the musical ensemble HOPIA, Hopia lent his voice and songwriting prowess to their 2013 self-titled album, a significant milestone in his career. His artistic expression further flourished with the release of a solo EP in 2016, a collaboration that showcased the talents of notable Dumaguete musicians Kay Yuag and Abe Jun Esquibel. Over the years, Hopia’s creativity and dedication have been recognized through various accolades, including triumphing in the Silliman University Valentine Songwriting Competition in 2005, and making notable appearances in the finals of Vispop 3.0 in 2015 and the inaugural Beetzee Best Songwriter competition.
Beyond the spotlight, Hopia’s commitment to the music community is evident through his initiatives like The Belltower Project, aimed at nurturing the creative spirit and collaborative efforts among artists. He also founded CuadernoSS, a collective that unites Dumaguete’s finest singer-songwriters. His influence extends to the theatrical stage, contributing his songwriting talents to musicals such as “Scharon Mani” and “Pulang Langob.” Through these endeavors, Hopia Tinambacan continues to be a pivotal figure in enriching Dumaguete’s cultural landscape, bridging talent and passion to inspire a new generation of artists.
