Bem of Enchi

Herbert “Bembem” Timtim Jr., the charismatic frontman of Enchi, has played a pivotal role in shaping the band’s destiny since its inception in the summer of 2001. Born from a group of high school friends united by their passion for reggae music, Enchi sought to introduce the reggae vibe to Dumaguete, with Bembem leading the charge. His distinctive voice and heartfelt songwriting have become synonymous with the band’s identity, resonating deeply with fans across Dumaguete and beyond. Under Bembem’s leadership, Enchi carved out a niche for themselves, pioneering the reggae scene in their hometown and bringing their music to a wider audience.

Bembem’s journey with Enchi has been marked by significant milestones, from their early days performing at “Reggae Wednesday” nights at Hayahay Treehouse Bar to sharing stages with some of the top OPM artists in the Philippines. It was Bembem’s vision that steered the band through these experiences, turning them into opportunities for growth and exposure. His commitment to singing in Cebuano and Tagalog has allowed Enchi to authentically express the laidback island lifestyle and the values important to them, such as love, friendship, and peace.

Today, as Enchi continues to evolve, Bembem remains at its heart, guiding the band’s creative direction and ensuring their music stays true to its roots while embracing new influences. His leadership has not only cemented Enchi’s status as Dumaguete’s first homegrown reggae band but has also inspired a new generation of musicians in the region. Through Bembem’s eyes, Enchi’s journey is more than just a musical endeavor; it’s a mission to unite and uplift through the power of reggae, making every performance an invitation to join in their celebration of life, music, and community.
