Beetzee Presents a Trio of Events: ALI, Creative Konnect, and Beetzee Best Songwriter Season 3: Band Camp Featuring Willfreedo
Supported by DTI and the City of Dumaguete under the Lunsod Lunsad Initiative to Strengthen Local Creative Potential
Dumaguete, Philippines – Beetzee, a renowned advocate for the arts in the Philippines, proudly introduces a dynamic series of events designed to elevate and connect the creative community of Dumaguete and the entire country. Supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the City of Dumaguete through the Lunsod Lunsad initiative (a funding for creative industry initiatives of cities), part of DTI’s Malikhaing Pinoy program, this project aims to foster socioeconomic growth by strengthening local creative potential. The events begin with ALI: Artistic Leap Initiative, followed by Creative Konnect and Beetzee Best Songwriter Season 3: Band Camp Featuring Willfreedo. Each event in this series is free to attend, offering accessible opportunities for learning, showcasing, and celebrating talent across the Philippines.
ALI: Artistic Leap Initiative (November 16-17, November 22)
The journey begins with ALI: Artistic Leap Initiative (ALI), a two-part, three-day event that invites creatives to “come” (ALI in Bisaya) and immerse themselves in learning and community. The term ALI was coined by Beetzee CEO Chamberlain Guevarra as a call for artists to gather, learn, and embrace the joy of expanding their creative skill sets. Focused on photography, videography, and graphic design, ALI provides a collaborative space for participants to gain hands-on experience, guided by accomplished speakers and seasoned professionals in each field:
- Videography: Chamberlain Guevarra
- Photography: Hersley-Ven Casero
- Graphic Design: Mark Dave Vindiola and Max Nocete
Supported by Pylonites Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching young people skills in photography, videography, graphic design, programming, and more, ALI ensures that each participant receives valuable instruction within a nurturing learning environment. Though free to attend, ALI requires participants to go through a screening process, and meals will be provided during the seminar.
- Learning Sessions (November 16-17): Over two days, participants will engage in workshops held at DCCCO Hotel, covering essential and advanced techniques in their chosen disciplines.
- Showcase of Outputs (November 22): Participants will present the results of their efforts in a showcase at Chadaa—a venue celebrated for its vibrant creative energy. This showcase will not only conclude ALI but also serve as the opening of Creative Konnect, creating a unified theme of celebrating talent and products.
Creative Konnect: A Three-Day Expo with Live Performances and Prizes (November 22-24)
Creative Konnect opens with the ALI showcase on November 22 and continues for three days as a vibrant expo featuring Dumaguete’s most impactful artists and groups. This event has evolved from a platform for independent artists and freelancers to one that now spotlights local creative businesses alongside them. Local creative groups, companies, and individuals will gather at Chadaa to exhibit their work, connect with audiences, and celebrate Dumaguete’s unique arts culture. Creative Konnect will also include live performances, making it an immersive experience where attendees can enjoy art in all its forms. Additionally, attendees will have the chance to win prizes, adding excitement and rewarding engagement throughout the expo.
Beetzee Best Songwriter Season 3: Band Camp Featuring Willfreedo (December 13-15)
The program concludes with Beetzee Best Songwriter Season 3: Band Camp Featuring Willfreedo, a three-day music event that shines a spotlight on songwriting talent from across the Philippines. Open to participants nationwide, Band Camp provides accommodations for non-local participants and meals for all attendees, making it accessible to artists from all regions.
This year’s Band Camp features Willfreedo, a renowned band from Visayas and Mindanao, who will mentor the participating bands and perform on the final night, offering a memorable experience for attendees. The judging panel includes notable figures: an instrumentalist, an award-winning songwriter and producer, and a representative from Midnasty, a prominent group in the Philippines, adding prestige and expertise to the evaluation process.
Held over three days at Chadaa:
- Day 1: Selected bands gather for orientation and introductions.
- Day 2: Willfreedo leads a day of hands-on mentoring, offering invaluable guidance to help bands refine their craft.
- Day 3: Veteran artists share insights in afternoon talks, followed by an evening of live performances where the bands showcase their entries to the esteemed panel of judges.
Prizes for the Band Camp include:
- First Place: PHP 20,000
- Second Place: PHP 15,000
- Third Place: PHP 10,000
